Your heart reflection

Proverbs 27:19 As in water face reflects face,so the heart of man reflects the man.

Our actions are the overflow of what is in our hearts. I know for me that is scary. I know what goes on in my head and my heart. I am a sinful human being. But, by the grace of God, He can change my heart into something that is beautiful. As I seek Him, my mind and heart are being renewed. That to me gives me hope because in and of myself, I can do nothing. My part is seeking God. God's part is renewing me. I need to rest in Him and His power to make me a man that is honoring to God.

Listening to Wisdom

Proverbs 21 For the LORD sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. (NLT)

Proverbs was written from a father to a son. Here Solomon warns his son about adulterous women. Today it would be the equivalent of us warning our sons about porn. Solomon wraps this warning up with verse 21. If this warning does not make you think twice about sin in your life, you are calloused. It is a great reminder that we cannot hide from God. Even if we are in a room by ourselves downloading porn. This is a specific warning about staying away from an adulterous women. But it also ties into any sin we commit. We need to not aid to temptation. Because if we aid to temptation we will fall. We need to watch our steps and the paths we go down.

Watch what you say

Jeremiah 28:15-17 Then Jeremiah the prophet said to Hananiah, "Listen, Hananiah! The LORD has not sent you, but the people believe your lies. 16 Therefore, the LORD says you must die. Your life will end this very year because you have rebelled against the LORD." 17 Two months later, Hananiah died.

WOW, if this isnt a warning to watch what you say in the name of the Lord, nothing is. I am a person that is very skeptical of people who say "the Lord saud to me ...." I know God speaks to people today. I juts think people use the phrase "and the Lord said to me" to often. In some way I wish God just ended our life if we said things in His name that are not from Him. That would make it easy knowing who is listening to God and who is not. I learn two things in ths passage. One God does speak to people. Jeremiah heard God and what he said came true. Hananiah did not. In life there are people who are going to speak what God tells them and people who do not.

The other thing I thought when I read this is I need to watch what kind of advice I give to people. I need to make sure I am clear on what my opinion is and not make it sound like gospel truth.
